Kwaliteit van blokkijkers op L1-blockchains onder vuur
ZachXBT, een bekende onderzoeker in de cryptowereld, heeft zijn zorgen geuit over de matige kwaliteit van blokkijkers op verschillende layer-1 (L1) blockchains. In een post op X van 5 september bekritiseerde hij de gebrekkige mogelijkheden van deze tools, vooral buiten het Ethereum-ecosysteem. Volgens hem hebben veel blokkijkers een flinke opknapbeurt nodig om transacties beter te kunnen volgen.
Welke blokkijkers doen het goed?
ZachXBT wees op Blockchair, Mempool en WalletExplorer, die vooral voor Bitcoin worden gebruikt, als voorbeelden van “goede” blokkijkers. Deze tools doen hun werk naar behoren en zijn prima te gebruiken voor het volgen van transacties. Toch ziet hij weinig toekomst in het bouwen van een nieuwe, multi-chain blokkijker. Volgens hem zijn veel chains simpelweg niet winstgevend genoeg om in te investeren.
Wel gaf hij aan dat hij alleen zou overwegen tools te ontwikkelen voor compliance-teams en wetshandhavers, omdat de cryptocommunity volgens hem momenteel te veel verwacht van nieuwe producten.
De middelmatige tools
Blokkijkers voor Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatibele chains, zoals OKLink, Solana’s Solscan en Ripple’s Bithomp, kregen van ZachXBT een “oké” beoordeling. Solscan sprong er iets beter uit, omdat deze de meeste informatie inmiddels kan filteren. Tron, hoewel nuttig, zou nog wat verbeteringen kunnen gebruiken. Ripple’s Bithomp werd positief beoordeeld vanwege de toewijzing van diensten en exchanges.
Grote verbeterpunten nodig
In de onderste categorie zette ZachXBT blokkijkers van onder andere Cosmos, Bittensor, Hedera, Harmony, Algorand, Aptos en Sui. Vooral Aptos en Sui kwamen er slecht vanaf. In een eerdere post haalde hij hard uit naar de blokkijker van Sui, SuiVision, omdat deze vrijwel geen opties biedt om spamtransacties of andere specifieke informatie te filteren. Toch ziet hij hier nog wel potentie, mits de juiste updates worden doorgevoerd of subsidies worden verstrekt aan de juiste teams.
Samenvatting
ZachXBT benadrukt dat veel blokkijkers buiten het Ethereum-ecosysteem te wensen overlaten. Hoewel er enkele positieve uitzonderingen zijn, zoals Blockchair en Solscan, is er op veel L1-blockchains nog ruimte voor verbetering. Of die verbeteringen daadwerkelijk worden doorgevoerd, hangt volgens hem vooral af van de winstgevendheid van de chains en de bereidheid van de community om te investeren in betere tools.
